U.K.-based photographer Leanne Surfleet has spent the past six years working with the self-portrait as a way to explore themes such as light and loneliness through dreamy analogue photographic technique.
Surfleet says of her work in her project statement, "I love to portray dreaming states within my photographs, giving the sense of memory and a familiarity that the viewer can relate to in many different ways. I’ve also come to realise my need to record my own existence, as a way of coping with my personal anxieties."
Each week, Feature Shoot editors showcase the work of two photographers who have applied to the Emerging Photography Awards in order to highlight the diverse array of applications we receive. This is not an endorsement of the photographer for the award.
