A recent graduate of School of Visual Arts in New York, the work of Patricia Voulgaris plays upon form as abstracted in fields of color and shape.
She describes her work in her artist statement: "Throughout Fragments, I focus on how memories become abstracted and distorted over time. When one considers the past, their memory of a certain person or place is often fragmental. However, people can remember certain distinct qualities about an individual or a particular place. Time passes, recollections fade and become broken down into simple forms, shapes, and patterns. These forms are what hold memories together. "
Each week, Feature Shoot editors showcase the work of two photographers who have applied to the Emerging Photography Awards in order to highlight the diverse array of applications we receive. This is not an endorsement of the photographer for the award.
