As the Picture Editor of the Financial Times Weekend Magazine, Emma Bowkett has her finger on the pulse of contemporary photojournalism. She helped establish the tone of the magazine during its 2010 re-launch and continues to propel the industry new and innovative directions. Illustrating news stories to publishing photo essays and exhibition previews, she has a keen eye for visual narratives and discovers emerging photographers with a strong authorial voice.
Bowkett began her career in 2005 after graduating with a Master’s in Image and Communication from Goldsmiths College. From there, she went on to intern at the Victoria & Albert Museum and serve as First Assistant to a prominent advertising photographer. She has taught in the degree program at Goldsmiths and continues to mentor up-and-coming artists by regularly participating in portfolio reviews and awards like Foam Paul Huf 2013 and the Prix Pictet photography prize.
