2015 Emerging Photography Contender: Guillaume Tomasi

For Unwanted Postcards, Montreal-based photogapher Guillaume Tomasi brings to life the corners of the world that have been forgotten by the tourism industry, unearthing the uncanny ways in which the influence and man and nature collide.

Writes Tomasi in his Artist Statement, “Tourism is a factor of wealth, economic dynamism and also develops activities in the city. With the help of a guide, a blog or an organized tour, holidays look the same. In contrast to these popular areas with malleable personalities, this project invites us to discover, like unwanted postcards, these unsung non-places and raises questions about the intrusive presence of man within this subtle beauty.”
