Taking up photography at the age of 16, Padua-based Vittoria Gerardi opened up her senses to the shapes, substances and sounds of the world around her. Suddenly she was able to embrace reality in an exhilarating new way.
The photographs that constitute her series Confine were captured in Death Valley, a desert in East California which is known to be one of the hottest places in the world. Vittoria writes in her artists statement: “It is not about the image in itself, but its potential, therefore the concept behind and ahead of it”.

Each week, Feature Shoot editors showcase the work of one photographer who has applied to the Emerging Photography Awards in order to highlight the diverse array of applications we receive. This is not an endorsement of the photographer for the award.
Apply to the Feature Shoot Emerging Photography Awards here. It pays to apply early, as we will be featuring some of our favorite submissions right here and over our social media channels.
