Born and raised in New York City, photographer Derek Kelly was A former U.S. diplomat and describes himself as “overly educated". In his series Ghosts he is attempting to build a world where waking and dream worlds collide and where primordial myths come alive.

The photographer writes in his artist’s statement: “Much like the cave painters of pre-history and Zen artists, I am seeking to express truths that are inexpressible in words and are not captured by logic”.
