South African born, Australia-based photographer Yvonne Todd began her career working commercially in advertising, architecture and interiors. The Nature’s Abstractions series is a culmination of images taken during almost six months of travel through Australia and Africa in 2016—the artist chose to concentrate on line, form and rhythm moving towards abstraction.

Yvonne writes in her artist’s statement: “These images focus on the tremendous beauty that can be found in nature, which create awe and excitement for me, not only when I am in the environment, but when I am in the moment of capturing the image. These images have been made in areas which have escaped, or remain relatively untouched, by mass populations”.

Each week, Feature Shoot editors showcase the work of one photographer who has applied to the Emerging Photography Awards in order to highlight the diverse array of applications we receive. This is not an endorsement of the photographer for the award.

Apply to the Feature Shoot Emerging Photography Awards here. It pays to apply early, as we will be featuring some of our favorite submissions right here and over our social media channels.
