EMERGING PHOTOGRAPHY CONTENDER: MICHAEL VINCE KIM

Michael Vince Kim is a Korean-American-Argentinean photographer who recently graduated from the MA in Documentary Photography from the London College of Communication. His most recent series Aenikkaeng (Korean for ‘henequen’) provides a poetic account of the Korean henequen workers who migrated to Mexico and later Cuba under the false promise of finding prosperity in a paradisiac land—instead they were sold off as indentured labourers and found themselves working long hours under the scorching sun.
