EMERGING PHOTOGRAPHY CONTENDER: NICHOLAS WHITE

Nicholas White is a photographer based on the edge of Dartmoor National Park in the South West of England. He currently divides his time between a studio with no windows and immersed in the landscapes of the British Isles. His series Black Dots focuses on the bothy—a free, “primitive” shelter in remote terrain, these shelters offer mountaineers and day trippers alike a refuge from the elements—and over the past 50 years their presence has become an iconic feature of the British landscape.
