A note about judging:
We are doing something different. Instead of judges casting their vote and having a few photographers with the most votes win, we are allowing each judge to choose their own winners.  For example, one of our judges may choose 1 photographer to represent, while another judge may choose 5 totally different photographers to receive the cash prize.
We think this is an exciting way to recognize more photographers and also a way for judges to choose and award photographers whose work directly appeals to them.

WHAT Photographers ARE SAYING ABOUT winning the emerging Photography awards

Since winning the Feature Shoot Emerging Photography Award a little less than two months ago, my portfolio has been featured on the Huffington Postas well as in GUP Magazine, and I am honored to share that I have received the Peter Urban Legacy Award, selected by esteemed juror Elizabeth Avedon for the Griffin Museum Juried Show. This July, New York based gallery Station Independent Projects will be showcasing an image from ‘Beautiful Boy’ in WE:AMEricans, curated by Ruben Natal-San Miguel and Leah Oats. In August I will also have several works in ‘Sensitive Surface,’ a group exhibition exploring the representation of the male body in Contemporary photography at Fotogalleri Vasli Souza (Malmö, Sweden). Particularly gratifying was the interview with Feature Shoot’s Ellyn Kail, who took extra care to produce a sensitive and thoughtful article. —Lissa Rivera

After being published for Feature Shoot, my work received a lot of attention. The project was published numerous times in magazines and online; P3 magazine (Portugal), The Weather Channel (United States), ZOOM magazine (Italia), Fotopolis magazine (Poland), etc. I was contacted to participate in exhibitions for example Uummannaq will be exhibited at Eyes on Main Street Festival North Carolina in April. I am also selected for the prize Voies Off , Rencontres Internationales de la Photographie, Arles . Thank you to Feature Shoot as the award enabled me to get introduced to many interesting people!—Camille Michel

Winning the Feature Shoot Emerging Photography Award provided a huge amount of exposure for my work.  I have received emails from across the country and the world.  The Czech magazine FOTO has asked to include my images in an upcoming issue.  The editors found my work on Feature Shoot.—Kimberly Witham

"The response from your post about my work was outstanding. It resulted in thousands of hits on my site. The images were published in Esquire, Huffington Post, London Times, PetaPixel, and many many more places. Thank you so much for the publicity."  — Peter Andrew

"You recently featured my Last House Standing row houses on your blog. I really appreciate your doing that, I got all kinds of requests for postings after that. My photo essay ended up on The Huffington Post,, Slate, The Daily Mail in the UK and several others. The C. Grimaldis Gallery - the oldest gallery here in Baltimore, MD - offered me a show this December. I'm fairly certain that a lot of this recent activity resulted from the exposure your blog gave me."  — Ben Marcin

"The amount of feedback has been great!  Since the post there has been a broader interest in my photography work. After the initial post on your website, BLINK magazine based in Japan wanted to publish a portfolio of my "women" portraits. Additionally I have some photographs on view at Daniel Cooney Fine Art in New York City. Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to discuss my personal project on Minneapolis."  — Benjamin Fredrickson
