Stephanie Rose Wood (b. 1985 UK) is a documentary photographer based between London and Melbourne. And in love, light and truth documents the occurrences of three Spiritualist churches situated on the edges of London and is a study of loss, absence and the need for reassurance that life, as we perceive it, is not the totality of our existence.

EMERGING PHOTOGRAPHY CONTENDER: LEON FOGGITt

Leon Foggitt is an editorial and commercial photographer living in London. Pond Life is a series of portraits featuring the clientele of the men’s outdoor swimming pool in Hampstead Heath, North-West London, which has remained relatively unchanged since the 30s’. The portraits were taken straight after each swimmer got out of the water from their morning swim. In the winter months “there is a sense of camaraderie, which increases as the water gets colder”, says the artist.

Jasper van den Ham is a fine art and environmental photographer from Delft, the Netherlands. “While exploring I can't be in all these different places at the same time”, he writes. Disquietude is an ongoing project on visualising this restless state of the artist’s mind when exploring a new environment.

Madrid-based photographer José Luis Barcia Fernandez uses a mobile phone to capture all his architectural photography and street scenes, . Light, Shadow and geometry are the protagonists of his series En Sombra, which includes candid street photos taken in Paris, Oviedo, Berlin and Madrid.

Francisco Diaz and Deb Young’s eery photographs that constitute The Playground Series reflect on the shadows of childhood that follow us long after we’ve grown up. The playground is one of those rare domains where children dictate the laws of their universe, deciding who’s the villain and who’s the hero, while adults are “at the very most, spectators”.
